WEEE Legislation

European Directive 2002/96/EC requires that the equipment bearing this symbol on the product and/or its packaging must not be disposed of with unsorted municipal waste. The symbol indicates that this product should be disposed of separately from regular household waste streams. It is your responsibility to dispose of this and other electric and electronic equipment via designated collection facilities appointed by the government or local authorities. Correct disposal and recycling will help prevent potential negative consequences to the environment and human health. For more detailed information about the disposal of your old equipment, please contact your local authorities, waste disposal service, or the shop where you purchased the product.

CEC Requirements

The California Energy Commission’s (CEC) Energy Efficiency Program covers external power adapters manufactured after January 1, 2007 or July 1, 2007 depending on the intended application. The Program requires a minimum efficiency level during Active and No-Load modes of operation.

Linksys is currently shipping North America products with external power adapters which meet the stricter CEC regulations that go into effect July, 1 2008. Linksys complies with the CEC external power adapter regulations for all North America products manufactured after July 1, 2007.

EU ROHS Compliance

Linksys Position Statement on Directive 2002/95/EC, Restriction of use of certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS)

The European Union Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive is a single market Directive on the restriction of certain hazardous substances. It seeks to reduce environmental impact by restricting the use of certain hazardous substances during the manufacturing of electrical and electronics products. Linksys is observing a multitude of regulatory requirements applicable to its products, including the RoHS Directive that restricts the use of lead (Pb), mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium and two bromine-containing flame retardants: PBB (polybrominated biphenyls) and PBDE (polybrominated diphenyl ethers) in electrical and electronic products.

Linksys complies with the EU RoHS Directive by virtually eliminating RoHS substances (to levels below legal limits) for all Linksys products that are subject to this Directive. Exemptions defined in the Directive may be applicable where it is widely recognized that no technically feasible alternatives are available to industry. Linksys sources many components and materials used in its products from third party suppliers and it relies on representations of compliance, including disclosure of the presence of RoHS substances from these suppliers.

Linksys has established internal systems to ensure ongoing compliance with the RoHS Directive and is monitoring the ongoing regulatory developments to ensure that its products comply with their requirements. For more information on Linksys EU-RoHS program or to inquire on Linksys policy with respect to other environmental laws, regulations and initiatives, please send an email to:
